Review of Director Yeung Sharing Session at the 12th Hong Kong International Deaf Film Festival
During the three-day event of the 12th Hong Kong International Deaf Film Festival (HKIDFF12) held on December 2nd, we presented a remarkable French documentary feature, “La Vérité” which explored the topics of cochlear implants and sign language.
Following the film screening, we had the pleasure of inviting director #yeungchiuhoi from the movie “The First Girl I Loved” to participate in a post-screening discussion. The conversation primarily focused on the challenges related to Deaf identity and how to promote societal awareness and respect for the rights of Deaf individuals.
Additionally, we discussed how to effectively convey the experiences and emotions of Deaf individuals to the audience. These discussions truly reflected the high level of interest and concern that Deaf audiences have towards films.
Once again, we extend our gratitude to Director Yang for sharing his insights, and we look forward to sharing more diverse stories with everyone in the upcoming film festival.
