In 2010, the deaf community of Hong Kong, the Asian People’s Theatre Festival Association, and the Hong Kong Arts Centre joined hands with various deaf organizations and institutions, with the determination to “embrace equality and diversity, and support deaf culture,” and pioneered the first International Deaf Film Festival in Asia. Without any precedent to follow in Asia, we embarked on an exploratory journey.

Over the years, we have continuously gathered deaf films from around the world, aiming to present films that are created by and centered around deaf individuals, portraying deaf stories, and showcasing sign language and deaf culture. Through these films, we seek to affirm that deaf people are a diverse community with their own language, culture, history, literature, and art.
